Osaka English Library (OEL) started in response to 2003 NET supervisor Shingo Matsumiya's dream to create a database of NET teacher's fantastic lessons. This will work best if your students have regular access to a computer Internet connected room.
There is so much that can be done for interactive learning on this site--any reading, listening, video watching and with the message board, writing and correcting.
Please start with music or other recorded texts. Choose your songs or texts. We do have thousands of (maybe 7000) songs. If we don't have it, we can probably get it for you. If on the chance we can't, please provide a CD.
We have lyrics and cloze texts for 50 Traditional Songs as well as many Pop songs. If you want lyrics or texts to be used in your class, please type them into a word document. Determine which word you want to cloze out if any and how you want the answers to appear: in another hyperlinked page or on the OEL site. Determine if you want a picture of the singer, band, event, etc.
All OFSET Union members can use songs they develop, up to five songs per member. They will be set behind a password-protected page for all members to use.
If you want to use full site functions including your personal education pages of any sort with your personal section and passwords, please get your school to pay for bandwidth, about 50 yen per student per month. Determine your own page of personal information and photos. Just make a word document choosing colors and font size. If you want to connect to your personal email but keep it blind, so nobody sees your actual address...OK! Possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
Choose five songs and provide lyrics. We'll post it free to all members. Try it with your students, in school or even with private students. It's a good place to start to determine whether or not it's good for you and your students.
