ZENKYO Allegation to the ILO

ZENKYO is a large Japanese Teacher's Union often connected to keeping Article 9, the peace platform, in the Japanese Constitution.  They are also wary of excessive central government control of public schools curriculum.  In 2002, ZENKYO submitted an Allegation to the ILO to request help to end an unfair and non-transparent evaluation procedure of Japanese teachers.

For the first time (ever?) the ILO is coming to Japan on a fact-finding mission in April, May or June 2008 to interview ZENKYO Union members and BOE officials at national and local levels.

OFSET Union will also file an allegation asking to be included in this fact-finding mission.

The ILO Executive Board Report 2004 (PDF digital page 57 printed version page 38) offers very clear and easy-to-read details.
